The reason we include glass, apart from making it easier for you, is that it creates a barrier to physically stop water from creeping out of the immediate shower areas between the tiles and the waterproofing. We also use the glass trims to solve a number of tricky aesthetic problems that arise when tiling a traditional channel drain shower.
